Mythology is the basis for so much stuff. It was one of my favorite classes in high school, though it was slightly odd to me that a nun read to us in class about the affairs of Zeus. I’ve signed a contract for my science fiction novel to be released soon… I knew that so much science fiction stories are based on ancient Myths. Lucas intended to invoke the myth storytelling when he penned his movies Star Wars.
When I get rejected and I do have well over a hundred rejections on a novel not on my site at all, I tend to go back and think about some storytelling classics. I wrote Mything You as a release of creative energy more than anything else because I had so many rejections. My biggest regret is not going to many houses with the final project. I didn’t know what I was doing wrong, but in deciding to push Mything You out as a creative outlet, it was like I released something else too. I learned how to submit and do things right. Guess I’m a hard learner about things.
Mything You is the retelling of Theseus only with a more romantic angle to it. The high school class I talked about had me dreaming and staring out the window envisioning the story I ended up penning years later. I retreated to the story as my own get away then and I returned to it years later again as the getaway.
But then I always loved movies and shows that take place in the ancient world. I’ve been fascinated all my life. Kevin Sorbo’s Hercules, the Mummy, 300, Gladiator, and even cheesy campy fun like Clash of the Titans all rock to me.
You will notice that Mything You is under Greta Buckle while my published name is my real name…it’s all the same brain.
Anyhow I hope you enjoy… oh and I wrote a sequel to Mything You. Before I self pub it though, I’m submitting this off.
I’ll pick a second winner of an ebook copy of Mything You.
