Venessa Giunta , Loose ID. April 15th
April 15th One Day Blog.
“I’m looking for well-written erotic romance between 20k and 80k words. You can pitch more than 80k, but it really needs to be very, very good. Sub-genres I especially like: urban fantasy/paranormal, mystery/suspense, humor. I am open to m/m or m/f (or menage), but I’d like to especially see some m/f, since I’ve got a pretty good roster of m/m authors. I am really looking for good m/f BDSM fiction too (*not* 50 Shades esque, please).”
4. Pitches can be up to two short paragraphs (<500 words). Please make sure the genre is clear from the blurb.
Venessa Giunta is a Senior Editor at Loose Id, LLC, and has been with the company since 2008. She holds an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University, where she learned more about writing and the business of writing than can comfortably fit in her head (corks in the ears work really well for this). What she, and most editors, looks for in a manuscript can be found in her essay “Demystifying What Editors Want” in Many Genres, One Craft, which she is vaguely annoyed to say is a whole lot of her MFA in a $30 book. In erotic romance submissions for LI, she is especially interested in urban fantasy/paranormal, mystery/suspense, and well-written, realistic BDSM fiction. Feel free to follow her on Twitter @troilee.
Much thanks for your time and effort! Just drop me a line and let me know where you end up putting me in the schedule.
