I’VE BEEN TAGGED! BY SHIRLEY BOURGET HTTP://WWW.SHIRLEYBOURGETFREELANCEWRITER.COM
When she talked about her latest release: Mything You
A fun novel of the story of Theseus
MY CURRENT WORK IN PROGRESS
Thanks Shirley Bourget for this opportunity to talk about my current WIP ….. well when I was tagged it was current but I two chapters from the end. Woot. Woot. November was crazy in a good way for my writing, but I’m almost done with the sequel to Mything You now. I’ve written the entire Book using NaNoWriMo as my motivation to have a finished draft composed. This must go to my editor now. I signed a contract. I have other books I must now write, but boom, this is done! Now I need time to give me space to rewrite. Then send to my editor. In the meantime I’m working on new stories.
What is the title of your next book?
Stealing Grace’s Husband or Two Weeks in Miami.
I am unsure of the timing of one. Two Weeks is a contemporary romance out with Corvallis Press in February, under my real name Victoria Pinder. It’s a sweet romantic comedy set in Miami with a Marine Colonel and a librarian.
Stealing Grace’s Husband is my Zoastra series from Greta Buckle. (Greta writes fantasy and sci fi.) Grace and Peter are on the ship together. They’ve been married for years. He was her first and only love. Their schedules are not great for time together right now as the ship is getting ready to launch. Grace isn’t prepared for Kara, an alien who switches bodies, taking over Grace’s life. She has to find her way back to the ship and her husband.
WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM FOR THE BOOK?
THE IDEA GREW FROM A COMBINATION OF EVENTS.
Someone once told me a romance novel with a married couple never sells. I like challenges. And in space anything can happen, including a body switch.
Then with Kara, the girl stealing Grace’s life. It was so important for the reader to at least understand why she did what she did, and she’s not a bad guy. It’s a real conflicted loyalties. Part of me loves Kara and yet I get completely why Grace would hate her. She stole her husband. If I’m conflicted then you the reader can be too.
For Two Weeks, I miss fun romantic comedies, not the raunchy ones. I set out to write a journey of this out of place girl in Miami and give her a love story, despite herself. Lots of movie watching helped inspire this one.
WHAT GENRE DOES YOUR BOOK FALL UNDER?
Two Weeks is Contemporary romance.
Stealing Grace’s husband is more sci fi with the body switch story, but Peter and Grace must find each other again, so there is a strong element of romance.
WHICH ACTORS WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO PLAY YOUR CHARACTERS IN A MOVIE RENDITION?
For Stealing Grace’s husband, I have to chose hotness. I’ll be back.
WILL YOUR BOOK BE SELF-PUBLISHED OR REPRESENTED BY AN AGENCY?
Two Weeks is not self pubbed. Stealing Grace’s Husband will. I am learning my characters before I launch them on space battle. These are origins stories for a reason.
Talk to you later. I am running late now. Think White Rabbit rush.
THANK YOU FOR STOPPPING BY, IT’S BEEN A PLEASURE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR COMMENTS.
AND NEXT WEEK DO STOP BY MY FELLOW WRITERS AND READ ABOUT THE BOOKS THAT HAVE BEEN THEIR CHALLENGE DURING NANOWRIMO AND FIND OUT WHAT PROMPTED THEM TO WRITE THEIR BOOKS.
