Are you are a member of Savvy Authors? April and August are the pitch months, and I’ve volunteered to help my fellow authors find agents and editors. It’s going to be an exciting month.
Margaret Riley, Changeling Press
1. The day (between 4/1-4/30) you prefer – April 4th
2. If you’d like to do a one-day blog or a one-hour chat session – Thursday, April 4th in the evening — we usually do a 1 hour “Impressing an Editor”/How To Pitch workshop followed by the pitches, and I’m on East Coast time, so 7:00 PM for the chat/workshop and 8:00 for the chats works well.
How does she want to see the pitch? One to two paragraphs telling me who the main characters are, what the main conflict is, and how the conflict is resolved. I call it a love letter — something you write to a friend telling them about the book you’re working on. (Well, a friend you don’t mind discussing kinky sex with!)
Shelby Morgen loves writing offbeat tales that defy as many rules as possible. She likes chocolate with her peanut butter, suspense with her romance, and kink with her sex. She’s always had a hard time keeping science fiction, fantasy, and paranormal from mixing with her kink. Shelby shares her belief in electronic publishing with her longtime friend and partner, Bill, her husband of 30 years. Visit Shelby’s website,http://ShelbyMorgen.com for her latest releases. She’s got a blog, too — http://shelby-morgen.blogspot.com/ — and a neglected Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/shelby.morgen), but she doesn’t hang out there much — Mafia Wars will suck her in.
