OCTOBER
Peter is Mine, Mine, Mine
Oct 13, 2016 Part 9
Weight: 118 pounds still
Ate: grapes, grilled chicken, small salad
Drank: Two glasses of white wine
Sex: On my way
The moon was high in the sky now and it’s light reflecting on the water. The neon skyline of Miami made the darkest of nights seem more beautiful somehow in the distance. Life here, where I could see all of this was breathtaking.
And finally the former Presidents and other heads of state left Peter’s home.
It was just us, Victoria, Caro, and the rest of the staff.
I passed Caro and smiled at her as she helped take tablecloths off the table and into a laundry container.
Inside the house, Peter finished his drink and Victoria waved at me, like sh was heading to bed now.
I met Peter’s gaze and adrenaline rushed through me. It was time to tell the truth.
I needed him.
He needed to know.
I shouldn’t feel these butterflies in my stomach as I strutted over and kissed his cheek. He ran his hand up and down my side as he said, “Thank you for helping out with the party Jennifer.”
I kept my cheek near his. The light five o’clock shadow that brushed against my skin made me tingle as I said, “I’m here.”
He nodded and said, “I can have a guest bedroom set up for you.”
Ice started up my back. Guest? I’ve been in his bedroom weekly for two years now. I adjusted his collar so he looked like the perfect queen and said, “No, I’d like to stay in your room.”
He let out a small grunt. I knew he wanted me. The tension in his body was there, but then he pointed toward the couch and said, “Jennifer, now that Victoria went to bed, we do have to talk.”
“We do?” I asked and poured myself a glass of wine from an open bottle near the bar behind him.
“Yes.” He said but waited for me to get my drink. I clutched the glass in my hands and took a seat. He followed, but sat across from me. I sipped my drink and finally he said, “You’ve been here a few nights now and I don’t want to give you the wrong impression.”
I put the glass down on the table beside me. I’d do anything to be his. He needed to know that. I scooted closer to the edge of the couch to be near him when I said, “Peter, I want to be here for you.”
He met my gaze but didn’t blink. “We agreed we were friends with benefits and I’ve taken advantage of that lately.”
My pulse zipped and goosebumps grew all over me. This wasn’t fair. I love him. He loved me too. He had to. I licked my lips and then I said, “You’ve taken only what I offered.”
He didn’t budge or move at all when he said, “Jennifer, nothing’s changed for me.”
When the relationship started, I’d told him I didn’t want more. I lied to get this far. My stomach was in knots. I needed to figure out how best to handle this. Maybe I was dreaming earlier that I could just tell him. I reached for his hand and said, “Your father died. Of course things changed.”
He didn’t take his hand back but he said, “No, I mean about us. I’m interested in another woman.”
An actual dagger that stabbed into my heart wouldn’t have hurt this bad. What? My mind raced as I asked, “Who? When? How?”
He took his hand back from me. “We agreed to not ask questions.”
If I said the wrong thing, I’d be out and we’d never be together. I didn’t know what to say when I stuttered and said, “Peter… I…”
“Yes?” He asked and just glanced at me.
Losing Peter and my place in the world was not an option. I stood and offered my hand to help him stand. Then I reached behind me and unzipped my dress as I said, “Just come to bed. Let’s enjoy ourselves.”
His eyes were glued to my body as I stripped off the black dress. If I had to, I’d ensure he was too tired for any other woman. He was mine and I keep what’s mine.
