Clearly I know how Morgans think

I glanced around the empty storefront that was connected to a high rise building. Victoria might not be saying much, but I could see she intended this place to be a storefront but also a lead in to a fancy office building.

Victoria probably planned to use the family logo design for the House of Morgan in the midst of white wedding dresses and other exclusive, expensive wear that would all have her name on it.

Her friend might not say but she absolutely intended this place to be the seat of her own fashion empire.

Victoria linked her arm with both hers and Alice’s as she said, “I’ve already sent the designs for how this place will look to my decorator. I’ll have it open in two weeks.”

And once again rich people get to do whatever they wanted without stress. I pursed my lips as I said, “You’re crazy. That’s a lot of work.”

Alice rushed to Victoria’s defense like I said something wrong. “The Morgans can have this place open in an hour.”

I get that. But I bit my tongue back. My show could have the set changed fast, but honestly when the set designers had more time, then the set went from good too amazing. Vicki stared ahead and said, “And the store is just the start of my plans.”

I guessed. The store front was just the start of Victoria showing off her last name. But I turned toward Alice and nodded, “You have a point.”

I then glanced at the glass wall that blocked the store from the office building. Glass was probably easy to switch out, though I hated set design. I broke my nails in too many performances in my years of helping, which was why my agent needed to get on the ball. I took out my cell phone and texted my agent.

Movies and good ones would catapult me from the small to the big screen and Victoria paid neither of them any mind. Instead she hugged herself and said, “See, my friends can get along.”

Right. We’d get along because one day I’d marry Peter.

Police sirens echoed in the air.

I stopped but I saw Alice’s face was white and her hair seemed to stand on its ends. Maybe whoever followed her was a more serious threat than I thought. I pressed my nose against the window and asked, “I wonder if they arrested your stalker?”

Just then the police cruiser stopped right outside the dress shop. My gaze instantly fell on Rafe Soliz.

My first boyfriend. My best friend still. If he was here, all was well. A second later, Peter’s brother stepped out of a car behind Rafe’s.

Victoria froze when Alice’s brother, Colt, stepped out of the passenger side of John’s car. I watched her reaction as Alice smiled.

Her pinched face and conflicted gaze told me plenty. Victoria wasn’t over her farmer, the marine, and Alice’s brother.

I seriously could win awards for calling this stuff.
