OCTOBER
My goal: Queen or Bust
Oct 13, 2016 Part 5
Weight: 120 pounds
Ate: nothing else.
Drank: One mimosa earlier
Sex: No and I’m not wondering about strangers
Peter shook everyone’s hand and I stayed beside him the entire time.
Everyone except the sexy stranger from the bar.
Yet as we took our seats in the front row for this circus to begin, I turned around and four rows behind me, there the man was.
Peter hadn’t known his name so I didn’t point him out.
However gasps started and I stood up to get a better view.
Here came Victoria Morgan, dressed in all white, like she was indeed an angel returned from the dead.
I glanced at Peter who also braced for impact and then back at his brother John and Alice who sat right behind us.
Alice tilted her head and jerked backward the moment she saw Victoria.
I saw the back of her head.
Part of me wished we were still friends. I need more female friends with sense. I just never have luck keeping friends.
What I’d said earlier probably meant she hated me. I shouldn’t have to choose between friends and Peter, but either way, I needed Peter.
I needed Peter like the ocean needs the moon.
As Victoria came to the front, Peter met her in the hall. His sister hugged him.
For a moment I didn’t move.
This was a family and I wanted to give them space. Behind her she heard Alice as she told John who passed her to head into the walkway to join his sister as she said, “This is a family moment, John.”
I glanced back and wiped tears from my eyes and this wasn’t on cue. But if Victoria was alive, then miracles were possible.
And hopefully this meant I had a future with Peter.
I glanced back to see Alice and what she did, but once again the dark haired man caught my attention.
I saw his phone in his hand and wondered if he took my picture.
Strange. I was easy to find. He could tune in to my show and google my name.
I shook it off and noticed how Alice seemed like she’d shy away.
It was probably for the best if she did. Alice would never fit into the House of Morgan and I spent years grooming myself to fit in. And while I hadn’t expected John to return, ever, he didn’t matter.
What mattered was transitioning the friends with benefits to a ring on my finger, just as my mother expected.
My phone beeped and I glanced at it. Rafe. My middle school boyfriend who was still a friend. He texted Is Victoria Morgan there?
I glanced at my phone and typed back fast Yes.
But when I glanced up again my mystery man wasn’t in his seat.
Good. I shouldn’t go near temptation or men who clearly only want one thing from me. Scandal was something Peter always wanted to avoid and soon I wanted to wear the tiara and be Queen of the House of Morgan.
