OCTOBER

Whose dress was this?

Oct 14, 2016 Part 1

Weight: 118 pounds still

Ate: nothing

Drank: black coffee

Sex: Yes, yes, yes

Peter wasn’t in his bed when I woke up. His pillow was cold, but the sun was already high in the sky.

Last night’s condoms were all cleared away in the bathroom now.

Maybe I should get pregnant.

The thought hit me hard.

I’d ruin my job on the show if I did. But I shouldn’t be dependent on just telenovelas.

I picked up my phone and texted my agent to get me more auditions. I want movies.

Done. I put it down and headed into the bathroom, cleaning myself up with my toothbrush that was still here.

Good. Soon, I’d have more of me here. I left the bathroom and decided to visualize what I wanted. So I opened the closet and walked inside.

One day half of this would be mine.

I’d hang my dresses to my right. Of course Peter’s suits would be moved to make room for me.

But then I glanced at a dress hanging in the back.

That wasn’t mine.

Size four, and mint green. Mint anything was not my color.

And cheap sparkles that could be bought at a dollar store. This wasn’t some costume for my show. I’d remember if one of my coworkers showed up here in something like this.

My heart raced.

This wasn’t anyone I knew’s size. My head had tension. Peter had said he liked another woman.

I needed water to help clear my head. I walked down the flight of stairs and saw Caro was mopping the floor near the balcony.

I didn’t even waive at her. I’ll say hello on my way out. Right now I need water.

As I headed into the kitchen, my eyes widened when I saw who was wiping the counters of the kitchen galley. I walked over to her and hugged her as I said, “Pilar, you’re here.”

Pilar hugged me back a little and then said as I let go. “I was just checking on my daughter.”

Caro was a few years younger, quite beautiful and I could get her a job on my telenovela, but instead I just shrugged and said, “I’m sure Peter is paying extra for the party.”

Pilar began to wipe the counter to make it sparkle as she said, “She’s still tired.”

Was Caro the one Peter was interested in? The thought hit her hard, but then he’d not make her scrub the floors. And the dress upstairs wasn’t Caro’s size or style. However I probably should get her out of the house so I said, “Caro, I’ll help her Pilar.”

“You will?” She stopped scrubbing.

I grabbed a water bottle from the top of the refrigerator.

Caro came in with a mop and bucket and stopped as she saw me near Pilar. I smiled at her and said, “I want to talk to your mom.”

“Okay, whatever.” She said, wiped her brow and went to a work sink and dumped the water and refilled it.

Now I needed advice and Pilar was a better mother figure than my own. She’d always been and continued to be great to me, even when I stopped dating her son way back before we’d all gone to college. If anyone knew what I should do now, she’d tell me.
