OCTOBER
One Mystery to solve.
Oct 14, 2016 Part 14
Weight: 118.5
Ate: an apple in my bad
Drank: water
Sex: No, no, no
The second I closed the servant’s entrance, I locked it. Then I locked Peter’s bedroom door. Caro would have changed the bedsheets and the new linens were in the closet.
My heart beat fast, but I grabbed the new sheets, and then stripped the bed. As I did, I sniffed the sheets. Someone had sex here, and it wasn’t me.
But I’d find out who was out to sabotage my life. Once I had the sheets, I found a plain black canvas bag that must be leftover from one of the Morgan events and confiscated it.
My entire body buzzed like I’d be caught, but then I made the bed, unlocked the doors, and sashayed out the door like this wasn’t a problem.
No one stopped me, but as I made it to my car I tossed the bag with the bedsheets in the front seat, turned on the engine and dialed my best friend.
My hands trembled on the steering wheel but I took off. Once on the street, I started to relax.
Everything was good.
I took a deep breathe but then a zap hit me hard the second Rafe answered with, “Hello.”
I knew he was probably on his way to the airport. But the station was between his house and there. I swallowed my pride and asked, “Rafe, if I get you someone’s DNA, can you get me a name?”
Rafe snorted. “If they have a criminal history.”
“If they don’t?” She asked and her heart raced.
She’d never been arrested in her life. And Peter wouldn’t knowingly sleep with a criminal. He hated how his father had those ties. I asked and my throat was tight as Rafe said, “Then there is no FBI file. Why?”
At least this was a start. I licked my lips and nodded as I made “I’m going to bring you some sheets. I need you to test them.”
Rafe asked fast, “Sheets? Were you raped?”
I gripped the wheel as I drove over the water toward the city and Rafe’s station. “That would be easier to explain, but no. I’m okay, but I need this favor Rafe. I need to know who, but just don’t ask me too many questions.”
“When I get back from Vegas-”
I interrupted. “Now.”
He let out a small frustrated grunt and then I knew he nodded. Then he said, “Look, I’ll run the test for you, but I can’t do more right now. I’ll miss my flight.”
Perfect. I’d have my answers soon. I needed to know who Ms. Bad Underwear was and then I could eliminate her. I drove off my exit and said, “I’ll meet you at the station.”
This was it. I’d have a name. Then I’d have information for Peter. There was no way he’d chose a criminal over me. Soon I’d get his ring on my bare finger and then I’d have everything I ever wanted.
