As many people know I often credit Kindle Scout as my reason I became a success. It provided the venture capital to edit my other novels and start the House of Morgan. So even though Amazon did away with the program, I am forever thankful for that start up money. (Side note: I used 3 different editors for the first three books of the House of Morgan to find out which one I worked with the best and would use in the future for more. So the first few books had different hands on the projects and the one I found was best was the one from Secret Crush. I use her when I can now!)
I’m also a big proponent of keeping my books wife for the general audience to buy. Buyers make it possible to stay a writer as I get paid more per sale than I’d ever get from a read through KU. And I love my buyers!
But I also have a dream to see one of my books made into a movie. How cool would that be? And Amazon was running their once a year win 20K Pounds (not USD) and a chance for the book to be maid into a prime movie. So I wasn’t going to enter, at all. I never entered in the past. But the entry had to be before today and part of the judging is reading. So I hemmed and hawed. Final day was today and yesterday I said it’s time to follow my dream. And I now need your help! So if you’re in KU and want to read a single title with no sequel planned because it’s a romance where two people fall in love… check out my doctor romance! It’s now in KU for a limited time (unless of course I win and then this one can stay there.)
All I need you to do to help me is: Download the book from KU which is FREE, read it and that’s pretty much it. Reviews are nice but that’s your choice.) The more people checking it out, the better my chances.
Frequently Asked Questions
How did Kindle Scout help this author become successful?
Kindle Scout provided startup funding that the author used as venture capital to edit multiple novels and launch the House of Morgan book series. Even though Amazon discontinued the Kindle Scout program, the author credits it as the foundational reason for their writing career success, using the money to work with multiple editors across the first three books to find the best fit.
What is the Amazon contest that offers 20K pounds and a Prime movie deal?
Amazon runs an annual contest offering winners 20,000 British pounds (not USD) and the opportunity to have their book adapted into an Amazon Prime movie. Entry requires submitting a book before a deadline, and part of the judging process involves reading the submitted work, making Kindle Unlimited readership a factor in a book’s chances.
Is it better to buy a book outright or read it through Kindle Unlimited to support an author?
Buying a book directly pays an author more per transaction than a Kindle Unlimited read-through does. However, KU reads can still benefit authors in specific situations — such as contest entries where readership volume matters. This author normally keeps books available for direct purchase but temporarily enrolled one title in KU specifically to boost contest eligibility.
