When I received my rights back for Winter Peril, I was excited to delve into a modern day gothic romances again. Winter Peril won Kindle Scout way back then, but it was often advertised as a mystery. So mystery fans weren’t happy with all the kissing scenes. However I was very grateful for winning Kindle Scout which no longer exists. I took the money I earned off the book and invested in learning and editing for new books.
However Kindle Scout closing and my new September release has me revisiting the entire series. I retitled them. I gave it a clear romance feel. I have new blurbs that clearly spell out ROMANCE. I don’t want to disappoint people looking for a mystery and accidentally picking up my books. As I reader, if I picked up a romance and it didn’t have two people who fall in love, I’d be upset and that author would go on my ‘do not read list.’ So the titles are now clear.
I also put on the Amazon page the old name AND it’s on the book cover so past readers aren’t confused anymore.
And I love the new look, and it’s just in time for my September release, Hidden Michael. Honestly Michael’s story was so much action and adventure and if you look closely a lot of the book is inspired by The Count of Monte Cristo, La Histoire de un Revange, the only book I ever read fully in French years ago. (I apologize if I spelled the title wrong as I worked from memory.) I remember sitting with my book, notebook, and my probably 20 pound laptop to look up any word I didn’t understand. The story took me forever to translate as French was not my first language and I went to American schools. Right after doing all my work, I pleasure read the English version and I loved the movie they made in the early 2000s. However my billionaire romance is still primarily a romance and there are major differences in my tale versus the classic; the biggest being Sophie, the heroine.
