Sex: Still too early
As we waited in the limo, I scooted next to Peter but he pushed away without a word and checked his phone.
The door opened a moment before I could say anything, and Vicki scooted inside. I sat on my hands and bounced like everything was perfect as I said, “Vicki, you look amazing.”
Peter nodded at his sister but the went on his cell phone.
Jennifer transitioned and sat closer to her friend who shone brightly like a bride in her all white dress. Vicki smiled at them both and pointed with her finger. “Jennifer, how long have you and Peter?”
Peter covered his phone and said, “We’re friends sis.”
Okay. So they had said that, before. But I needed to talk to him about this. For now though I nodded and said, “Right. Peter and I have been friends for years.”
Vicki averted her gaze and stared out the window as she said, “Hmm.”
No. The last thing I could handle was if his family disapproved now. She spent the past two years showing Peter’s father, Mitch, that she was a good choice of a bride. All that work was gone now. So I sucked in my breathe and lowered my voice so Peter might not hear me as I asked, “What’s with that tone?”
Vicki shook her head fast. “It’s not my business.”
I took Vicki’s hand and squeezed it as I asked, “We’re friends, are we not Vicki?”
Vicki turned toward me and squeezed my hand as she said, “Yes and Peter’s my brother. I just never thought you two would get together.”
The limo turned into Catherdral and stopped at the servants door. Peter put his phone away and said, “We’re here. Head inside and wait in the back.”
Vicki hopped out and headed into the side door. At least that was the door I assumed it was. The limo took off and I transitioned back to Peter and tried to take his hand. He avoided it and instead ran his hand up and down my thigh, like he wanted have sex, right now, in front of the cathedral.
I shook my head and he headed toward the door and asked, “Jennifer are you ready?”
“For you, always.” I said and scooted out as cameras took our pictures. I smiled and waved. The moment Peter joined me, I quickly said, “Just not in a Church.”
He placed his hand on my back and led me inside. Peter’s profilings was handsome and strong and my insides quaked a little bit. He directed me through the small crowd and I pointed politely to where he wanted and said, “There’s Alice and John.”
He squeezed my hip gently and whispered in my ear, “We’ll go over in a minute. I need to talk to you.”
She blinked and asked, “What’s going on?”
He led me to a dark corner and twirled me so my back was against the wall when e said, “I don’t want you to think there is more to us than what we agreed. We’re still friends with benefits.”
My heart fluttered. How could he say that? I needed to tell him how I felt. To me there was way more involved. He had to know. I kissed his cheek and said, “Don’t… we’ll talk after the funeral.”
He nodded and said, “Give me one minute.”
And then Peter just left. My heart squeezed in my chest a little. How could he just go? I wasn’t sure what I’d do but I walked out of the corner and into the crowd. I’d show him somehow we fit together perfectly.
