I heard the laughter behind my back of being a cold heartless workaholic who’d never, ever get a man. It shouldn’t matter but I hated being ridiculed.
So I lied. And I knew the perfect guy to hire… my best friend’s butler.
He’d need the extra cash, right? Then I could control the entire fake relationship and not let it get out of hand.
Talking him into it was more work than I expected but my offer of cash got the surly Brit to agree.
And he was the perfect date. So perfect in fact, I sometimes forgot this was all a game.
He poured the drinks and I poured out my soul.
Now my problems are growing out of control and I hate that.
I’m starting to make a list.
- We’re from different worlds and I like his better.
- He’s more often right which infuriates me.
- And those kisses of him knocked me right off my high horse.
But I had no idea he had that big of a secret. So big that everything I valued is now on the line.
The smart thing to do is break up so we do.
It was all pretend anyhow.
But I needed to blow up everything I knew in my life so I did, but you’d never have expected what happened because I was still in a state of shock.
