Lately, I’ve been sitting with a thought that I think a lot of us moms and creators struggle with: I’m finally starting to listen to myself. You know how we spend so much time taking care of everyone else’s needs and voices that our own gets buried? Well, I’m digging mine back up.
I know I’ve mentioned YouTube to you all before, but I’ve really decided to speed things up. And I have to tell you, I’m doing it a little differently than I expected. I’m actually now using Eleven Labs to give my stories a “professional voice.” I realized that if I was going to put my work out there for you to hear, I wanted it to sound polished and have that atmospheric quality that really does the story justice. It’s been such a process learning the tech, but it feels so right to hear my words spoken so clearly.
I really couldn’t get it it say live like ‘live on tv’ as it wants to say live like ‘live another day.’ If anyone has tips on how to fix this, let me know.
But the most fun I’ve had lately? I’ve started making these tiny, 7-second shorts using AI. Honestly, it is just pure joy. It’s doing something I didn’t anticipate, it’s bringing back all these stories I wrote years and years ago, way back before my children were even born. It’s like I’m reconnecting with that younger version of myself, the one who just wrote for the thrill of it. Seeing those “pre-mom” characters come to life in these little snippets is a kind of magic I didn’t know I needed.
Something Sweet (For a Change!)
Because I’m always neck-deep in billionaire angst, I’ve also been working on a brand-new set of stories about a group of friends. I wanted to write something a bit “nicer,” you know, those stories where the friendship is the anchor and the vibe is just… warm. It’s been such a lovely palate cleanser to write about people just being there for each other without a massive explosion or a hostile takeover around every corner. We all need a happy place to retreat to, and this series is definitely becoming mine.
A Deal with the Devil
But don’t worry, if you’re here for the “bad boys,” I’ve got you covered! Next week, the ultimate villain of our friend group in the Blacklist Billionaire series finally arrives.
If you remember Protocol Billionaire, Nadia found herself a nice guy and lived in that beautiful, safe billionaire bubble. It was a total fairy tale. But let me tell you, Jane is NOT that story. Jane did something incredibly brave: she admitted on-air that the story she was being forced to share was a total lie.
By doing the right thing, she put herself in immediate danger. She has the evidence of exactly who is after her, but she knows she’ll be dead before she can use it if she doesn’t get help now. So, she makes a desperate, dangerous turn and goes to Theo. Theo isn’t a hero; he believes everything has a price. But he can make her disappear. Jane is officially making a deal with the devil himself, and I’m holding my breath just writing their scenes together!
And of course, the Morgans! I’m currently deep in the next installment, Secret Enemy. If you thought the drama was settling down, think again. The triangle between Jennifer, Peter, and Belle is still very much a part of the story—they are either causing the trouble or interfering with the love story of whichever sibling is trying to find happiness.
For those who haven’t read Secret Keeper, you saw Antonio find his true love with Emily (Jennifer’s bodyguard—I still love that twist!). But while Antonio found his peace, Belle went completely off the deep end. Her downward spiral is exactly why Peter is now officially, and finally, divorced. There is so much history there, and I’m having a blast (and a few headaches!) weaving it all together.
And the prequel is done but honestly it ends with Jennifer being so mean to Alice like she was in Secret Crush at the beginning so it’s strange to edit and then listen to this but I think it’s so important.
I’m so excited for you to see what’s coming next week. Head over to the YouTube channel if you want to see those 7-second shorts and hear the new professional voice, I’d love to know if it captures the characters the way you imagined them!
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you use Eleven Labs to add a professional voice to your stories?
Eleven Labs is an AI voice generation tool that converts written text into polished, atmospheric audio. To use it for storytelling, you paste your written story into the platform and it produces a professional-sounding narration. The main challenge is controlling pronunciation — for example, getting the AI to say ‘live’ as in ‘live on TV’ versus ‘live another day’ can require extra fine-tuning.
What are 7-second AI shorts and how are creators using them?
Seven-second AI shorts are ultra-brief video clips generated or enhanced with AI tools, designed for quick social media consumption. Creators are using them to bring written stories and characters to life in fast, visually engaging snippets. For writer-creators, they serve an unexpected benefit: resurfacing old, pre-existing stories written years ago and introducing those characters to a new audience in a fresh format.
Is it better to narrate your own stories or use an AI voice tool like Eleven Labs?
The choice depends on your goals. Recording your own voice offers personal authenticity but requires equipment, editing time, and comfort on camera. Using an AI voice tool like Eleven Labs delivers a consistently polished, atmospheric result and removes the pressure of performance. For creators prioritizing production quality and speed over personal vocal presence, AI narration can make publishing stories feel more accessible and sustainable.
